Traumatic Brain Injury Regeneration Project

Resource website for TBI survivors, family, friends, practitioners...

est. 2011

Currently under construction.

GOALS: provide education, NEWS on research and therapy updates, provide a TBI blog. Post links to educational sites for understanding and hope concerning Traumatic Brain Injury.

Established TBI Alcoholism, TBI Addiction chat on See for Friday schedule.

Stem Cell Regenerative Biology is a dynamic field of science that is progressing and providing hope for TBI patients, stroke victims,Parkinson's Disease sufferers, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's disease patients as well as other patients whose organs, soft tissue and cardiac tissue in the human body need repair, regeneration. Recently, Mr. Sanford of the eponymous Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute has contributed $100,000,000 for stem cell research.

We will be giving updates on the state of the art.

Coastline Community College's Online ABI Boot Camp, it's easy to enroll! Michelle Wild is a fine advocate and teacher!

Here is TBI Regeneration Project's LinkedIn site and check out the 800+ doctors, nurses, therapists and other allied healthcare professionals who are TBI advocates.
Many veteran professionals are LinkedIn. We are hoping to connect many of these TBI professionals to TBI survivors through a telehealth network very soon.

TBI Regeneration Project seeks to financially help
low income TBI survivors receive therapies, computers, assistive equipment. We are endeavoring to establish a telehealth network for professionals and patients. While in negotiations with Vidyo, we are looking for a software engineer to write a specialized application. Vidyo can provide multiscreen access, the present and future is mobile iphones, phablets as well as pc's.

TBI Regeneration Project will be affiliating with useful advertisers  you use everyday who donate to us through your shopping their link on our page.
Amazon shopping on   will support TBI Regeneration Project! Coming soon.

Now, researchers in Germany’s Heidelberg University have discovered a new type of neuron in the pyramidal cells of the hippocampus in brains of mice. In these new cells, the axon originates directly from a dendrite, bypassing the cell body. This structure allows for, what appears to be, an improved transmission of information when compared to a regular neuron.

Welcome to the 21st Century:

"TrueNorth comes packed with 4,096 processor cores, and it mimics one million human neurons and 256 million synapses."

In this age of transhumanism, this IBM microprocessor has economic implications ('bot economy) as well as human/machine interface potential.

"Gluten sensitivity- increases the production of inflammatory cytokines (which cross the blood-brain barrier) and these cytokines are pivotal players in neurodegenerative conditions."
- Dr. David Perlmutter, MD

How can brain plasticity occur when the body's autoimmune system is producing cytokines to cope with sugar? Is LDL (Low Density Lipoproteins) and cholesterol good for the brain, the body's fattest organ?

Dr. Perlmutters' REVOLUTIONARY book "Grain Brain" is a must read IMHO for TBI patients and care providers wishing to stimulate brain healing, naturally.

Honor our active duty military in Afghanistan NOW by helping them with TBI prevention safety; OPERATION HELMET

TBI Regeneration Project now has a need for fundraising. TBI Regeneration Project is operating as a 501 (c)(3). More later.

We also need a software designer for this specialized application and this sub-project will cost at least $15,000.

Soon we will have the PayPal donation button active that will deposit directly into San Diego County Credit Unions TBI Regeneration Project account. Proceeds will be used to establish flagship clinic near La Jolla, CA Veterans Hospital, lease or purchase therapeutic equipment, i.e. stem cell therapy, HBOT, computer system, assist TBI survivors pay for treatment,  education, upgrade computer equipment for TBI Regeneration Project office, pay staff. Our staff payment policy will provide median Fair Market Value along with adjustments as we grow for demographic cost of living allowance. We also will have a Bitcoin wallet donation button dedicated to TBI Regeneration Project.

Please consider making a contribution to help TBI survivor veterans and civilians connect to physicians, nurses and allied health practitioners who can make diagnostic, (yes radiology, and health records will be available to them) referrals, and prescription decisions using telehealth technology, remotely, worldwide. We live in an exciting time!

TBI Regeneration Project is proud announce a first of it's kind Traumatic Brain Injury Chat for Addicts at 8 p.m. PST (Room 5) and a Traumatic Brain Injury Chat for Alcoholics at 9 p.m. PST (Room 5). Please advise interested TBI survivors, veterans and civilian about this groundbreaking event effective 15NOV2013! See Friday schedule, sign up and chat!

Today I saw on the news (San Diego) that Mr. Sanford donated $100,000,000 to the UCSD Sanford/Burnham institute for stem cell research! Since today's technology with stem cells has it narrowed down to extracting stem cells from skin cells, this announcement provides great hope for the TBI community as well as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Stroke, M.S., etc., etc.!

Cal State University, San Francisco has made progress with TBI regeneration:

"There is evidence that the use of adult (non-embryonic) stem cells can produce healing in TBI. Dr. David Steenblock, in fact, has documented impressive clinical improvements in Traumatic Brain Injury patients treated using their own bone marrow at his clinic in Mission Viejo, California. Not surprisingly, researchers at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School found the potential of using a TBI patient’s own bone marrow derived stem cells to treat their condition compelling enough to warrant doing a formal clinical study; they are working on this with Memorial Hermann Children’s hospital (also in Houston)."

"After the success of the acute therapy, Chopp and coworkers subsequently reported that MSC therapy 1 week after TBI also led to long-term functional recovery (3 months after treatment) and that the cells remained in the brain at 3 months.38 They have also shown incremental functional improvement over isolated cell therapy by combining MSCs (Mesenchymal Stem Cells) with atorvastatin39 or by using a collagen scaffold to aid in cell delivery.30

Human MSCs administered intravenously 24 hours after TBI were also shown to migrate to the injured brain, express neural phenotypes, and improve functional outcome.36 These human MSCs were subsequently found to remain in the traumatically injured brain for 3 months, affecting long-term functional outcome."

Cognitive Science:

"People with a brain injury often have cognitive (thinking) and communication problems that significantly impair their ability to live independently. These problems vary depending on how widespread brain damage is and the location of the injury.

Brain injury survivors may have trouble finding the words they need to express an idea or explain themselves through speaking and/or writing. It may be an effort for them to understand both written and spoken messages, as if they were trying to comprehend a foreign language. They may have difficulty with spelling, writing, and reading, as well."

Right now we are in the process of establishing TBI Alcoholism chat and TBI NA chat.
Science has proven that TBI AA's and NA's benefit from specialized meetings among peers in the recovery process.
Since many TBI survivors are "shut-ins" or isolated, having a dedicated meeting for TBI survivors with substance abuse problems ONLINE would be beneficial!
We will start small, Friday meetings at first, (Fridays being a common denominator) then as volunteers start meetings for each day of the week, you see where this can go.
Hopefully, eventually, a 24/7 365 chat room can be established for the weird hours many TBI survivors live.
For the time being, check out regular AA/NA and other online chat meetings on, led by Buddy T.
